i know... i know... yet another patented laurie-hiatus. but there's also been yet another mega-blog abrewin' in my brain/hand-me-down toshiba.
just the big news for now...
we found an apartment! oh glory be, we've found an apartment!! had an especially harrowing apt-hunting experience all on my lonesome last weekend (details to follow) and as soon as ms. tiya breezes into the city, we find a place. headed out into brooklyn to visit a decidedly sketchy realtor round marcy ave who asked if we "had the funds available right now" before meandering down bedford in search of a bite to eat. stumbled
across a realtor with a bunch of ads in the window, walked in, defended our honor/employedness and 3 hours, we had a new place to live. first we went to see a 5th floor walk-up, only to discover that we'd overestimated our levels of fitness. 5 floors is way too many floors to have to walk up everyday. so we nixed that. caught a sketchy brooklyn cab and ended up not too far from my pal sean's current place. opened up an unassuming door into a long, skinny, dark hallway. my spidey senses were tingling and yet i proceeded (with my keys gripped between my knuckles should our
thug-life escort get any funny ideas). fumbled with the keys to the apt and finally got it open.... and the hallway flooded with light, opening out into the hugest apartment i've seen in quite a while! hardwood floors, pale painted walls, windows up the waz! little kitchen with a little room off to the side for breakfast and painting. a living room the size of my entire current apartment in chelsea. 6 closets! SIX! and private access to the roof, which means it's all ours. after a brief, semi-private conversation, we decided to take the apt and headed back to the office to sign the papers. it was glorious!!! and now i have a place to live come sept 1.
oh... and i bought a beautiful camera that takes beautiful pictures...
