delicious!

i have been seriously derelict in my digital journaling and fully intend to help make up for lost time at the present.

with the exception of a few minor emotional snaphoos, i've had the most delicious past few weeks. here's a rundown of what the l-train has been up to...

saw the bonapartes again a few weeks ago. the sound was a little off and there were some icy shoulders in the room, but i did score a cd and a couple of ass-grabbing moments courtesy of dex. so the evening was not a total waste.

i've developed the habit of having wild and crazy, late-night weekend evenings. and i like it. a few weekends ago, i had a lovely time with sean and london tom. had dinner in a teeny yuppie dive on u st, then rocked the futureheads show where i temporarily fell in love with a pretty, cheekboned bartender. had copious amounts of woodchuck, both to give me a reason to keep returning to the bar and also to take the edge off being surrounded by surly, hip teenagers. then it was out to saint-ex to meet with tom and his pal. more drinks. some cute boys were all about sean's haircut and kept high fiving us. stuck around until closing, my favorite nervy bartender complemented me on my ever-present fingerless gloves, high-fived the drunk guys one more time and headed out in search of dansing. we were turned away from cobalt and some other place due to the lateness of the hour so we headed to tom's place and de-toxed for a while. one of us fell down. sean and i finally headed home round 4:45, first having to trek all the way to 9:30 club where my car was parked. we passed many late-night creatures, hookers in clear plastic platform shoes, crackheads on bikes, a scary mannequin-like man who stood in a storefront window and blinked at me. finally got back home. the birds began chirping, the sky lightened and my head hit the pillow.

i awoke the next morning to find a teenage boy with a mushroom haircut and a descendents hoodie standing in my doorway. thank goodness i was s p r a w l e d suggestively atop my covers, otherwise that could have been supremely embarrassing for both of us.

last week flew by in a haze of tasty lunches and humidity. i finally saw the brian jonestown massacre/dandy warhols documentary, DIG, thanks to Jason. then that friday, i came home from work to find both my paycheck and a parcel from my drum-n-bass london friend, dave. he sent me a bunch of his art, his friend's band's 7" EP, a grime cd, a penny and lots of lovely things.

that night, i headed out to danse with tom again, this time opting for the black cat for the queercore night. it was utterly lame, so we just rocked the red room and made eyes at all the superbly-coiffed hipster boys in too-tight jeans with bad attitudes. this time, we left with enough time to dance our troubles away at cobalt. we were rhythmically accosted by a gaggle of shirtless, beefy men in light-colored jeans. one of our friends hooked it up hardcore and we high-fived in celebration. then we had some very tasty chicken fingers at the diner round the corner. our surly waiter was unimpressed by the small amount of food that we ordered and was subsequently quite unfriendly to us.

saturday night called for a reunion with my long lost friend collin. ran into rockabilly rich at black cat and much merriment ensued. i experienced the full wrath of a truly strong vodka/cranberry. met tons of excellent people including a gal who was so scarily like me that she even used the term "action hair" and a perky ex-gymnast/current rocker who made me smile in his studded belt and old skool pumas. i later became smitten with yet another skinny, indie boy with lovely curls and high top pink converse. lame house party, but wonderful music discussions out in the balmy wee hours of the morning. saw troy and his conductor hat on his bike round florida ave. on my giddy ride home, i encountered another hooker slowly sauntering across 14th st. she had the same clear plastic platforms that i've seen all over the place, but she was donning nought but a piece of red string across her nether regions and two sparkly triangles covering her uppermost bits. home by 4.

tonight, i'll go see my friend steve's band, cataract camp, at warehouse next door. i'm looking forward with great anticipation as steve was one of my favorite people at uva and i haven't seen him in nearly a year! and i can have lots of fun because i've just been informed that i can take tomorrow off. i totally win...
