litterati!

yesterday, after a delicious lunch of szechuan chicken and a pot o’ green tea with coworker Kelly, we decided to partake in a little casual consumerism. I was running dangerously low on black kohl eyeliner and various other body products, so we hit up ulta and it was glorious. Quick stop in borders where I rediscovered two works of literary majesty that have been missing from my small arsenal of books – Mishima’s biography and Valerie Solanas’s s.c.u.m. manifesto.

I read mishima’s bio a few years and was utterly entranced by his strangeness and rage. He was a ridiculously talented writer, but closeted and the weight of his
repressed sexuality bubbled up to the surface in terrifyingly violent ways. If you’ve never read it – I highly recommend.

scum manifesto... oh my - it's bizarre, but given valerie solanas's sexual past, it kinda makes sense that she hated men so much. if you can find it anywhere (or want to borrow it from me, if for no other reason than novelty) snatch it up. i got it half off for $3... holla.

and then there's the gem of my library... my favorite new find. i'm not sure exactly what it is, but it looks like a free magalog that italian diesel gave with purchases, essential words and phrases for travellers and tourists. i came across it during a trip to idle time a couple weekends ago and it completely boggled my mind... grainy 1970s-esque pictures with shiny, rich italian couples in the foreground and slightly disfigured or seemingly dead peons in the background. it's glossy and frightening and i like it very much. here's a few thousand words:
